To
improve the pitch at GMHBA stadium Daisy’s was engaged by SCI Civil Infrastructure Group to provide a rootzone
solution for the playing field. Daisy’s Turf Sand from our quarry in Colac was
selected for it’s adherence to specifications, displayed through testing in
NATA accredited labs, certification as a SPORTENG approved rootzone sand.

A key challenge in this project was finding a suitable material that would meet specifications demanded by the customer.
- Specifications The specifications for the oval stated that the sand must conform to the SPORTENG rootzone level sand standards, with a particular focus on the drainage criteria as the oval is situated next to a creek which flooded the previous oval.
Ensuring the right product was selected, with timely and efficient delivery within the specified timeframe was a critical challenge.

- Specifications The Daisy’s team proposed the Turf Sand from our quarry in Colac for use on this oval. Our material is tested in NATA accredited labs and is found to meet the requirements of SPORTENG rootzone level sand, enabling it to be used on this oval.
Outcome
Daisy’s collaboration with SCI Civil Infrastructure Group on this precinct is a testament to our team’s ability to manage large-scale logistics, and to deliver a to-spec product for Victoria’s most significant sporting infrastructure. From the initial extraction at our Colac sand quarry to the final supply of over 730 tonnes in Geelong, our team worked hand in hand with our customer to ensure the site received Turf Sand that met the specifications required for an elite AFL field.

J.L Murphy Reserve
Providing the Turf Sand to the $5m JL Murphy Reserve resurfacing project to upgrade the pitches in order to provide a suitable and safe environment for participants and support the increasing sport participation levels in our community. The project also reshaped the spaces that the local community can utilise, enhancing the areas public spaces.
Ballarat Athletics Field
Development Victoria's new Ballarat Major Events precinct includes a world class athletics facility which is being constructed by BildGroup's TurfOne. Daisy's was contracted to supply over 3,000 tonnes of engineered Turf Sand for the field in this project.
Spring Creek Reserve
The Surf Coast Shire's Spring Creek Reserve was renovated over the summer of 2025/26 by Victorian Sports Group. Daisy's was contracted to supply over 6,900 tonnes of engineered Turf Sand for the oval in this project.
