The Synthetic turf is a synthetic replacement to natural grass. It has improved rapidly over the years, too. In modern times, people use synthetic turf in many professional sports fields. Synthetic grass is made from synthetic fibers. The manufacturing process of artificial turf is similar to how carpet is made – synthetic ‘blades of grass’ are stitched onto a solid backing. It looks as realistic as possible while also being easy to maintain.
   Unlike natural grass, synthetic grass does not require irrigation and is very durable making it a practical replacement to natural turf, especially in sports fields. The uses of synthetic grass are not limited to sports fields, though. Installation of synthetic turf in residential areas and family homes is becoming more popular as a replacement to natural turf.Â

- Before installing synthetic turf, it is important to prepare your area correctly to ensure it is level and the lawn is soft underfoot.Â
- Prepare your area back to the natural ground removing all grass and weeds.
- Level your area and spread crushed rock at a depth of 50mm. We recommend 20mm crushed rock. Level the crushed rock and compact it using a mechanical plate compactor.
- Spread and level crusher dust over the top of the crushed rock to a depth of 10mm. Level the crusher dust with a rake or soil leveler or even a concreters screed to make sure this layer is as level as possible to remove humps from compacting. Compact the crusher dust using the compactor plate.
- Lay the synthetic turf over the levelled and compacted surface. Use joining tape where required and fix turf around the edges with turf nails at 150mm spacing, blending the nails through the grass
- Spread dry silica or triple-washed sand over the surface evenly and brush through with a power broom or hard-bristle broom.
