Our Black Wood Mulch is made using recycled pine and hardwood pallets, which are ground and dyed with a rich black vegetable dye. This mulch not only adds a sleek, dramatic touch to your garden but also boasts several practical benefits:
- Weed Suppression: Effectively prevents weed growth.
- Moisture Retention: Minimises soil moisture loss by reducing evaporation.
- Temperature Regulation: Helps to stabilise soil temperature for optimal plant growth.
- Soil Health: Enhances overall soil quality.
Mulch should be applied at a thickness of 50-100mm.
Important Notes:
- Spring Wash: After installation, if you experience heavy rain, the mulch’s colour may appear less vibrant. This phenomenon, known as "Spring Wash," happens when rain washes some of the colourant away from the surface. The colourant may settle deeper into the mulch. To restore the appearance, turn the mulch once the rain stops or cover it with a tarp before rain. Once dry, the colour will bond to the wood and remain stable.
- Colour Setting: For best results, avoid watering the mulch for 3-4 days to allow the colour to set fully.
Handling and Safety:
- Wear gloves when handling the mulch.
- Avoid contact with eyes and skin and prevent inhalation of dust and vapours.
*Please note while every effort is made to ensure consistency, there may be variation in the product from what is displayed online. Our range is naturally sourced or recycled, so variation can occur. It's best to visit our stores in person to get the best impression.
