Do you sell concrete mix in bulk?

Yes we do sell our own premium bulk concrete mix, which is a convenient, ready-to-use premixed blend of 14mm screenings and washed concrete sand. Add cement and water to make concrete. Used for general concreting.

Concrete vs Cement? 

Despite their frequent co-mention, cement and concrete are not synonymous. Cement is an ingredient, while concrete is the final product. So, when we delve deeper into their composition and uses, the differences become even more evident.

• • Definition: Cement, often mistaken for concrete itself, is a powdery substance. It acts as a binding agent when mixed with water. 
  • Composition: Derived from calcified materials like limestone, mixed with clay, and then heated, cement emerges as the resultant binder. The heating process leads to a material called clinker, which when ground and combined with gypsum, gives us the familiar cement. 
  • Usage: Rarely used singularly in construction, cement is the essential binding ingredient that, when mixed with water, forms a paste, setting and hardening over time.

• • Definition: Concrete is the blend you get when you mix cement with water, aggregates (such as sand, gravel, or crushed stone), and occasionally admixtures. It’s this mixture that forms the robust surfaces we walk on and the structures we live in.

Hydrated lime uses? 

• Produced specifically for enhancing the stability of road coverings. 
• Incorporated into asphalt as a filler to boost resilience against high-temperature deformations. 
• Provided to the water treatment sector for purposes such as softening, pH modification/coagulation, and eliminating contaminants. 
• Acts as an agent to remove environmentally detrimental acidic gases, notably sulphur dioxide and hydrogen chloride, from exhaust gases. 
• When mixed with sand and cement, it improves the ease of use and adhesive strength of mortars and renders. 

What is hydrated lime? 

Hydrated lime is a refined, pristine white product, specifically formulated for seamless integration and optimal performance in mortar tasks. 

Is hydrated lime dangerous? 

Hydrated lime can lead to skin burns and eye injuries. Whether wet or dry, avoid direct skin and eye contact; the moist form is especially corrosive and may induce skin allergies like dermatitis. For safety, adorn appropriate protective attire, gloves (in line with AS2161 standards), and eye/face shields (compliant with AS/NZS1337.1). 

Mortar mix for bricklaying?
